I was trying to figure out why The Shrink would enter The Frogs thread and take shots at him. Below are a few possiblities, just wanted to see what everyone else thought.

A.) The Shrink is jelious of all the attention

B.) The Shrink is trying to protect his books as people are getting on OF's bandwagon and costing the advertisers money. By discrediting OF, he feel less people will play his picks

C.) The Shrink is trying to protect his posters as he expects the Frog to cool down.

D.) The Shrink is creating hits for his website. He knows the Frog has his followers and they are happy and making money. If he takes a few shots at him, they will come in groves and defend him. Over 1200 hits on frogs thread today already.

Add your own ideas if none of these work for you.

There could be a lot of resons. Shrink attacks..... OF responds. I don't think it's really that heated. But i think Shrink is just trying to say that OF doesn't cap the games totally himself so he doesen't want OF to take all the credit.

What I'd like to know is...were most of those plays really steam plays as the Shrink claimed? In other words, if someone looks at the thread half an hour after the play is posted is there no chance in hell he'd get the same number?

It's one thing to say it's inappropriate to bash a guy in his thread for posting plays...I can agree with that.

But the more interesting question (for me at least) is whether the allegations were true or not.

Anyone know the answer?

Darryl Parsons................to answer your question on steam plays....

you usually will not get the same number...

Having posted "sharp action/steam" plays myself in the tfz..........i make it clear you have a 2 to 3 minute window.....otherwise its a stale number....

example.

He posted a lead on philly over 184. I went and bet it with in the next 3 to 5 minutes after the post and got it at 185. The number continued to climb to 188.5. I still feel I got plenty of value. I believe all but one of his plays have been within 1 point when I went to bet it. The other was 1.5. Most continued to steam. The lines have never gone the other way

for what it is worth. Bottom line, Ive been betting approx $100 per unit and I am up almost $2000.00. I will continue to play his picks as long as I can get a number close to the one he posts.

Thanks guys for the responses.

If the line is pretty much guaranteed to move a point or so in 3-5 minutes, then I'd say it's a pretty unfortunate situation. They should probably be labeled "steam plays" or something like that.

On a very good short-term run like this one, the one point won't be a factor, but in the long run it could very easily make the difference between winning and losing. IMO there's nothing more annoying than following a winning capper on all his plays yet losing yourself.

darryl.........in the long term, it does make a difference......... for instance, say college baskets...at the start of the season there might be as many as 30 or 40 steam plays.......and they will go 29-10, just stupid won/loss records...but as the season progresses...the numbers even out.....and if your not on THE NUMBER...you will quickly see your +'s turn to -'s....gl

Some good issues and answers both raised and provided here but most good cappers use a line service of one kind or another. What I think is vital that indicates a cappers worth is his/her ability to analyze and present a game. If you read Frogs threads carefully, he has not only the ability to cap the match-ups, but has a good feel for the game in general. Note his halftime plays as well. No steam involved there. Seeing steam coming and deciding whether or not it is valid or a side one wants to be on or against is but a single part of capping successfully. I don't see that one should be crucified if they happen to be on steam sometimes while at other times, Frog included, go against. It is the entire handicapping effort that brings the result. And those results will present themselves in totality by the end of the playoffs.

OMT.......i know for a fact that froggy does his homework on his picks...his analysis on selections are solid and precise.....

steam is not a factor, when a handicapper makes his selections....

same as whether or not you as a handicapper likes the same side as the public.....you could care less right???

so what if his picks happen to be steam moves...

hey if ya'll want to pick on someone........pick on me.....

i have been following other gamblers picks for 20yrs.......... :smoker2:
